Syahbandi Samat
For
this 2 month of staying in Ruang Sementara as my popup studio doing artwork, I try to change
my perspective of all my usual theme of work that is fairy tales, idioms, myth
and people belief into something more personal. That is about my journey. My
journey through out 23 years of living and 5 years experience living as a full
time artist. Of all the happiness, fear and frustration, I gather everything up
and transfer it into canvas. It is easy to draw and portray my happiness but
for sure it is very hard to draw and visualize my fear and failure into canvas.
At the same time exposing my inner self to viewer who will never truly understand the journey that i take, as well as telling people what I afraid of.
Some of the work i'm going to produce here contain most of my deepest feeling
that I, since the beginning, keep it to myself.
Of
all the people that i once love and hurt, to nature, myself and God,
Of all the love, happiness, hatred and fears. Its all gather here

The reality of living nowadays. Those who have money will be in control. The work shows The Man in power sitting comfortably while the rats without eyes and mouth only ear, the rats that only obey the order but to ignore all the bad things that they see and forbid to talk while collecting money for him.
